Helideck Operations Initial Training Standard

Aims and Objectives:
The aim and objectives of the Helideck Operations Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegate with the initial knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively.

Note: Additional training, as determined by the Duty Holder, in offshore site-specific elements is required before appointment to the HLO and/or HDA role.

Duty Holders will need to check the statutory, regulatory and company-specific HLO and HDA training requirement for the particular region of operations, so that the HLO and/or HDA candidate receives all of the required training for the HLO and/or HDA role.

Target Audience:
The target group for Offshore Helideck Operations Initial Training programme is personnel who are to be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA).

Delegate pre-requisites:
As a minimum, delegates must have completed the Dangerous Goods by Air training course in accordance with Part 1, Chapter 1.4 of the ICAO Technical Instructions and sub-section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Category 7, 8 or 9 or state aviation-approved dangerous goods awareness training course.

Validity:
The Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate has no formal expiry date.

Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader

Aim and Objectives:
The aim and objectives of the OERTL Initial Training Programme are to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader effectively.

Target Audience:
The OERTL Initial Training Programme is designed for personnel who are appointed to, or to be appointed to, the role of an Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader.

Learner pre-requisites:
Learners must hold a valid Offshore Emergency response Team Member certificate.

Validity:
2 years

Offshore Emergency Response Team Member

Aim and Objectives:
The aim and objectives of the OERTM Initial Training Programme are to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Offshore Emergency Response Team Member effectively.

Target Audience:
The Offshore Emergency Response Team Member training programme is for personnel who are appointed to, or to be appointed to, the role of an Offshore Emergency Response Team Member

Learner pre-requisites:
There are no pre-requisites.

Validity:
2 years

Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Initial Training

Aim:
The aim of the Initial Training Programme is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to perform the role of an Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain (Free Fall) effectively.

Objectives:
The objectives are:

  1. Delegates to fully understand the roles and responsibilities of the Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain (Free Fall)
  2. Delegates to understand the working mechanisms of the TEMPSC, and how to safely launch and manoeuvre the TEMPSC to a safe area.
  3. Delegates to ensure that the safety of the passengers is maintained throughout

Target Audience:
This programme is designed to meet the initial training and assessment requirements for Offshore Lifeboat Coxswains (Free Fall) in the oil and gas industry.

Delegate pre-requisites:
Delegates must hold a valid BOSIET or T-BOSIET and FOET or T-FOET certificate.

Validity:
2 years

Basic Fire Fighting

COURSE AIM:
To provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond appropriately to a fire emergency and provide the knowledge for the proper use of emergency equipment and procedures to enhance their survival in a fire emergency.

COURSE CONTENT:
On completion, participants will be able to demonstrate competence in the theory and practice of the following:

  • To describe the Classifications of fire
  • To outline Principles of Heat Transmission And Fire Spread
  • To outline the Common causes and consequences of fire
  • To explain the various fire prevention methods
  • To Identify, Select & Operate of various types of extinguishers
  • To understand fire emergency evacuation.

COMPETENCY:
Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of theory.

Requirements:
No requirements.
